@BhikkhuBeckett oh gosh, yeah I'm completely consumed by a possible move to Boston. As a result, my practice has been.... very inconsistent 馃槵

We are now on ! Enjoy the new features and let me know if you run into any bugs or issues.

I'm actually going to to move forward with the upgrade to today. The process looks pretty straightforward and doesn't look too intrusive.

@voidspace yeah, this overall point is what I think I'm struggling with. I do my best to follow the path but my oldest (5yo) seems take that as an invitation to double down on his attachments so to speak. There is a part of me that thinks that I'm being silly to expect him to be able to pick up on this so young but I also want to help him with issues he struggles with (especially when they bleed over into school, etc).

I'm going to do a little research and see if I can upgrade sangha.social to . I'll definitely give everyone a good heads up before I proceed.

Does anyone have experience teaching and/or principles to children? Or maybe some book recommendations? I've been thinking about introducing this stuff to my 5yo son and I'm not quite sure how to approach it.

@Flophouse_Sam @willowlovestheology I think I got a lead on the issue and it has more to do with how Mastodon operates on the backend. Basically, old toots don't get slurped up when instances federate. See github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/. So it sounds like a known issue with Mastodon with no workarounds as of yet. Now, based on my new understanding of this, are you seeing all of Willow's new toots after you started following with your sangha account?

@Flophouse_Sam @willowlovestheology Hmmm I'm not 100% sure I'm federating correctly so it could be that. I'll check it out. Are there other instances that you are noticing this with?

@Flophouse_Sam @aadil @Flophouse_Sam Thanks guys! Glad you are enjoying the instance! I've seen the term "guppe group" a couple times now and I'm not familiar, what is it?

@ichii@ichii.moe Yeah, I was planning on doing that and it would be nice to have the instance listed there but it's not something I'm heavily invested in. I'd just like to follow the covenant to show users we are a trustworthy member of overall fediverse.

Anyone want to be the emergency access administrator? You'll need to be proficient with Linux and Docker and just be generally comfortable with managing cloud infrastructure.

I've been super busy with work, family, and travel recently so I haven't been able to start actively promoting sangha.social. Before I do that, I want to make sure our server follows the Mastodon Server Covenant:

鉁 Active moderation against racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia
鉁 Daily backups
鉂 At least one other person with emergency access to the server infrastructure
鉁 Commitment to give users at least 3 months of advance warning in case of shutting down

@spud That's weird, it's showing up as valid on my end with an expiration date of November 13th. This is a Let's Encrypt certificate if that helps.

One of the things I love about living in is The Art Institute. They have a great selection of sculptures (among other fine examples of South and Southeast Asian religious art).

@Shaunyata Yup, this was an unplanned outage (special thanks to @BhikkhuBeckett for the heads up). If I need to take the server down for maintenance I'll definitely let everyone know.

Sorry for the downtime folks! Mastodon likes to cache quite a bit of media from federated instances and that filled up our hard drive. I've set up some automation to clean up these files daily and put some monitoring in place to alert me when disk usage runs high again.
